The Kelly Mine in Socorro County, New Mexico, is a world-renowned

locality famous for producing high-quality, botryoidal smithsonite,

typically in shades of blue, green, and blue-green, with some rarer pink

or yellow specimens. Operating since the late 1800s, it is regarded as a top U.S.

locality for this zinc mineral, the mine closed in 1947 making Smithsonite

from the mine quite rare.
