While pyrite is found in several locations across New Mexico, finding specimens

with brookite is a specific and potentially rare occurrence. A notable discovery of

authigenic brookite occurred in sandstone near Gallup, but it was not associated with pyrite.

This does not rule out the possibility of finding the two minerals together, but no

well-documented sites in New Mexico are known specifically for this combi

nation.
